The AND Weighing FX700CT compact carat balance (760 ct x 0.001ct) or milligram balance (152g x 0.001g) is fast, accurate and reliable. The FX700CT out of the box the weighs in carats and grams. The balance can be configured for multiple weighing units including ct, g, oz, lb, ozt, dwt, grains and even a user-programmable unit for conversion applications such as paper or fabric weight which is calculated as g/m2 (grams per square meter).
A&D balances are constructed solid and deliver consistent weighing results day-in and day-out in thousands of laboratories and production facilities worldwide. A&D Weighing is the third largest manufacturer of precision laboratory balances in the world with headquarters in Japan and two offices in the USA. The FX-700CT meets today's demanding needs for Jewelry Manufacturing, Laboratory, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Production environments and delivers milligram weighing performance with the convenience in a compact footprint saving valuable bench space.
Jewelers can weigh lots of precious gem stones up to 760 carats and the FX-700CT increments in 0.001 carats, also referred to as 1 point. The simple and clear reverse-back lit LCD display provides optimum viewing of the weight readings. The FX700CT is NOT approved for trade (Non-NTEP) so this carat scale would be used for sorting diamonds by weight or maybe appraisals verses direct sales of diamonds by weight. Most states require a Legal for Trade balance when goods are sold by weight and we do offer several Mettler Toledo carat balances that are legal for trade, but they cost a lot more money than the FX-700CT. States like NY, AZ, CA and FL strictly enforces LFT. The affordable price makes this a great carat scale for the jewelry hobbyist or gem collector.
The rugged, shatterproof draftshield with anti-static coating is removable for easy cleaning. This windshield is unique to the marketplace especially for challenging applications where contamination is a potential concern with pharmaceutical weighing application when FDA requirements or food weighing to HACCP requirements restrict a breeze break made of glass.
Rotary doors mean that the balance takes up no extra space when the doors are open. It is the perfect milligram balance in the tight confines of glove boxes and fume hoods. Crowded academic lab benches are no problem: set-up 2 balances back-to-back. Other balance manufacturers design their laboratory scientific balances with large bulky glass draftshields that are hard to clean. Many are not removable and if you ever do break the glass did you know the replacement cost for the glass can exceed over $500.
The breeze break top pivots left or right to allow for easy access from the top for pipette or burette displacement into a weigh dish.
Laboratories in the science classroom or quality control department looking for a nice milligram balance will find the FX-700CT is the perfect choice. The maximum capacity is 152 grams and the FX700CT increments in 1 milligram divisions. The compact footprint saves you valuable bench space measuring 7.8" x 11.6". That's smaller than a standard sheet of paper.
Another selling point is AND Weighing fabulous product support. A&D Weighing has a dedicated product support line by calling 1-800-726-4940 6:00 am to 5:00 pm PST. Finally the A&D is simply to use and configure. The product manual is written for the average person to configure their scale verses having to spend $100's calling for scale company help you figure out how to use the weighing device.
Precision Weighing Balances has been an Authorized AND Weighing Distributor for over a decade.
When the FX-700CT balance is first installed it should be calibrated to ensure accurate weighing results. Every location in the world is positioned differently to "magnetic north" and therefore the acceleration of gravity is slightly different. The balance is external calibration and the weight is NOT included. Calibration is user selectable using either a 150g, 100g, 50g or 20g calibration weight. We offer a full line of optional calibration weights from Troemner.

AND Weighing FX-700CT balance with the Omega 2-Speed Electric Powder Trickle for weighing powder accurately. Pistol and air rifle reloaders can accurately weigh casing, bullets and powder to control the extreme spread in velocity compared to buying off the shelf ammo or reloading with a low cost strain gauge scale like the Gempro250, Acculab VIC123 or Sartorius AY123.
Watch as we drop one kernel of Hodgdon H4350 powder and see the response time of the FX700CT balance. We also change the response time from Fast > Mid > Slow and see how the changes effect the time it takes for the display to show the weight change from when one kernel of powder is dropped on the weighing pan.
The AND FX700CT can weigh up to 2345 grains and increments in 0.02 grain divisions. The linearity is ±0.02 grains. This is double the accuracy of the A&D FX-120i which increments in 0.02 grains, but is linearity to ± 0.04 grains. For a reloader that is a big difference plus the FX-700CT has a nicer display and better draftshield than the AND FX120i balance.
If you are a competing in long range shooting over 400 yards and especially anyone over 1000 yards we are still recommending the Sartorius Entris64-1S over the FX-700CT. The Entris64 is 10x the readability increments in 0.002 grains and you really need this accuracy if you plan on winning any competition.
When shooting .308 ammo, on average, a single kernel of Varget roughly changes the velocity by 1.3 fps. So just a few kernels of variation can easily double the extreme spread in velocity. Out to 500 yards it does not seem to make much difference, but beyond that and things can get ugly fast. Buying the right balance is just another tool to put more bullets closer to the desired point of impact.
It's all a matter of perspective and at what level one wishes to perform. Buy the FX-700CT or FX-120i and they are good weighing devices, but it is doubtful you are going to win shooting competitions. Any way one looks at it, serious long-range shooting is not cheap. In their world, it often comes down to one point or even one "X" between winning or not.
Remember the motto -- buy once cry once -- If you stray from this motto it will bit you.
