This balance is designed with a removable, shatterproof breeze break with anti-static coating. Other balance manufacturers design their analytical balance with large bulky glass draftshields that are hard to clean. Many are not removable and if you ever do break the glass do you know the replacement cost for the glass can exceed over $500.
The shatterproof breeze break is the perfect design for challenging weighing applications where contamination is a potential concern. Some pharmaceutical or food research labs that must to comply with either FDA or HACCP regulations that specify no glass. The draft shield is removable you can weigh large diameter items that would not fit in the breeze break. Weighing in a glove box can sometimes be easier with the breeze break removed. The A&D HR250-AZ has a programmable unit conversion function. It multiplies the weight data in grams by an arbitrary coefficient set in the function table and displays the result. The coefficient must be within the range between the minimum (0.000001) and maximum (10000). If the coefficient set is beyond the range, an error is displayed and the balance returns to the coefficient setting mode, prompting to enter an appropriate value. A coefficient of 1 was set at the factory.
A small footprint design saves you space. The HR-250AZ footprint measures only 8 x 12 inch. The rotary doors mean that the balance takes up no extra space when the doors are open. We can't understand why some other brand analytical balances are designed to be so big and bulky, but I guess maybe they think a bigger piece of equipment can justify an overpriced price of lab equipment.
