Ohaus AV4101 has been discontinued by Ohaus and no longer in production. The replacement model is the Ohaus Adventurer [a href="http://balance.balances.com/scales/131"]AX4201/E[/a]. Information on this web page is for reference only for our past customer's that purchased this balance and want to review the specification. If you need assistance selecting an alternative model give us a call at 978-521-7095 and a balance expert can assist in alternative models. Ohaus Adventurer Pro AV4101 Balance offers 4100 grams weighing capacity and precision to 0.1 gram. The large 5.8" x 6.3" weighing platform and ability to operate on either AC adapter or 4 AA batteries makes this a great all purpose portable precision scale.

Since its introduction, the Ohaus Adventurer Pro has continuously set new standards for versatility, performance and value in an affordable precision balance. Designed with a solid foundation of standard features customers have long appreciated, like an ergonomic leveling system, RS232 connectivity and GLP Data capabilities, the Adventurer Pro now offers a few additional extras created from direct customer feedback. All Ohaus Pro Electronic balances can be for an additional cost equipped with internal calibration.

Ohaus AV4101 Adventurer Pro SmarText™ is Ohaus’ easy to use embedded balance software that utilizes text prompts to guide users through application use and balance setup. Delivered through a 2 line backlit LCD and clearly marked buttons, SmarText tells you what is going on and what you have to do next.

Utilizing the 2-line LCD, SmarText simultaneously displays weight and application specific information such as percent or count. For example, with one touch of the Function button, SmarText will display application reference information such as average piece weight (APW), while displaying a parts count in the weight display.

Additionally, Adventurer AV4101 Pro has been designed with an up-front level indicator eliminating the need to look behind the balance during the leveling process. A quick glance at the up-front level indicator helps to ensure that the balance is level prior to each use. The AV4101 portable balance also offers six application modes and can perform in 17 US and international weighing units (mg weigh mode not available).

Adventurer Pro is available in both analytical and precision configurations, in a variety of capacities. The Adventurer Pro line of precision balances offers capacities ranging from 51 x 0.001 grams to 8,100 x 0.1 grams. You can review all of the Ohaus Adventurer Pro digital balances [a href="http://balance.balances.com/scales/133#lab"]HERE[/a].

When the Ohaus AV4101 gram scale is first installed, and when it is moved to another location, it must be calibrated to ensure accurate weighing results. The Adventurer AV4101 digital scale can be purchased with the optional internal calibration feature at an additional cost by selecting the factory install internal calibration option. If you decide not to choose this option then the Ohaus balance can be manually calibrated by purchasing an optional external [a href="http://scaleman.com/calibration-2-kilogram-weight-nvlap-certified-class-2.html"]2000 gram calibration mass[/a].

Is the Ohaus AV4101 too expensive for your budget? We also offer the [a href="http://scaleman.com/portable-compact-weigh-scale-ej4100.html"]A&D EJ4100 (4100g x 0.1g)[/a] or [a href="http://scaleman.com/compact-scale-ek4100i-weighing-balances.html"]EK4100i[/a] priced substantially less than the Ohaus AV4101 digital scale.

The Ohaus AV4101 weigh sensor is a load cell built using [a href="http://www.weigh.net/applications/glossary.html#strain"]strain gauge technology[/a]. The strain gauge can give you good weighing results for weighing static loads, but can drift much more due to temperature variations caused by excitation energy used with a load cell strain gauge weigh sensor. You'll get better performance, linearity and repeatability with an electromagnetic weigh sensor found in the [a href="http://scaleman.com/and-weighing-fx5000i-precision-balance.html"]A&D FX-5000i[/a]. If you don't understand then watch this video [a href="http://youtu.be/89BOlViQXto" target="_blank"] HERE demonstrating a magnetic force restoration balance verses strain gauge scale[/a].

In addition, the [a href="http://balance.balances.com/scales/566#digital-scale"]A&D FXi/FZi series[/a] comes with an RS-232C interface for bidirectional communication for weight measurements transferred to an optional printer or computer. Plus AND's [a href="http://www.balances.com/and/winct.html"]WinCT data acquisition software[/a] data communication software works with either the FXi or FZi balance. Other manufacturer's charge you $100's more for either their balance communication software or a third party software, but with the A&D you can download [a href="http://www.lab-balances.com/and/winct.html"]WinCT balance software[/a] free. There is also an optional [a href="http://scaleman.com/laboratory-balance-ethernet-interface.html"]FXi-08 ethernet interface[/a] or [a href="http://scaleman.com/lab-scale-usb-interface.html"]FXi-02 USB interface[/a] available at an additional cost if you prefer not to use RS232 to transfer data from the balance to your computer.

Looking for a balance that comes standard with a USB interface? Be sure to see the new [a href="http://scaleman.com/electronic-weighing-device.html"]Sartorius Practum 5101-1S[/a] and [a href="http://scaleman.com/satorious-digital-scales.html"]Quintix 5101-1S[/a]. The Sartorius features a touch screen user interface for easy balance configuration.

US government customers call us saying the must comply with the Buy American Act clause the only similar balances we offer to the AV4101 that are made in America would be the [a href="http://scaleman.com/sg-5000-digital-precision-scale.html"]Scientech SG5000[/a]. FAR Part 25.003 requirements state that domestic end products are preferred over foreign end products, and the Ohaus Adventurer is not made in the USA.
