Ohaus VP413DCN Voyager Pro Balance with Moveable FineRange™ is a dual range milligram balance.  In the fine range when weighing samples from 0-100g in capacity you'll have 1mg readability.  Once the cumulative weight on the weighing pan exceeds 100 gram the readability drops by a factor of ten or 0.01 gram readability for samples 100g-410g.

When you select the Ohaus Voyager milligram lab balance you get advance embedded software including statistics, formulation, statistical QC, differential weighing, density determination and more.  Plus, all Voyager milligram balances come standard with motorized internal calibration - AutoCal™

Ohaus Voyager lab balances calculates the density for you - no calculator or scratch paper needed.  The embedded software allows the Ohaus Voyager balance to store in memory the initial weight in air, then the weight of the object submerged in the liquid (typically distilled water - 1.00 g/ml, but could be glycerin - 1.26 g/ml, 91% isopropyl rubbing alcohol 0.81 g/ml).  If you don't understand specific gravity review this example of [a href="http://balances.com/acculab/density%2Bdetermination/specific%2Bgravity.html"]density determination[/a].

Performing density determination inside the draftshield requires the purchase of Ohaus' optional density determination kit.  You could also use the weigh below hook and suspend the sample beneath the balance, but this is not recommended on 0.1mg analytical balances since air turbulence typically interferes with your weighing results.

Ohaus VP413DCN is a "Legal for Trade" precision balance and we highly recommend you click the Certificate of Conformance hyperlink below in the balance specification table to fully understand the Ohaus VP413DCN limitations.  The Ohaus VP413DCN weighing specs in the NTEP / Legal for Trade mode are 410g x 0.01g.

One design issue you should be aware of with the Voyager Series when the balance is used in the non-NTEP mode is the inability to disable the use of internal calibration.  The Ohaus line is the only balance we know of that does not allow you to disable the internal calibration.  Where this becomes an issue is most calibration A2LA Certification Calibration companies will NOT calibrate a balance unless the internal calibration can be disengaged.  If your balance is going to require A2LA Certification the [a href="http://balance.balances.com/scales/858/"]Sartorius CPA423S Milligram Balance[/a] may be a better choice.

Voyager Pro is available in either four Analytical or 12 precision models and you can [a href="#scientific"]see them all here[/a].

Before you decide to purchase an Ohaus VP413DCN dual range milligram balance we suggest you review the [a href="http://balance.balances.com/scales/558"]Sartorius GC2502 (500 g x 0.001 g)[/a]. Ohaus VP413DCN milligram balance only weighs up to 100 g x 1 mg in milligram range.  The GC2502 features a weighing capacity of 500 g x 0.001 g.

Ohaus VP413DCN balances are legal for trade and feature internal calibration.  If you require a legal for trade milligram balance, then you may be better off buying the Ohaus VP413DCN balance instead.  We feel internal calibration is a nice feature but drives prices up significantly.  [a href="http://balances.com/scientech/factors.html" target=_blank]Before you decide internal calibration is worth the money, please read why we beg to differ.[/a]
