Ohaus EP612 digital scale has been discontinued and no longer in production. The replacement for the Ohaus EP612 is the [a href="http://balance.balances.com/scales/1468"]Ohaus Pro EX2202[/a] [a href="http://scaleman.com/ex2202-ohaus-digital-laboratory-balance.html"]HERE[/a]. The information below is for reference only for those people that already own an Ohaus EP612 laboratory digital balance or looking to replace an precision scale.

Ohaus Explorer EP612 precision balance (610g x 0.01g) can be purchased 3 ways - the standard Explorer EP612 which has no internal calibration and is NOT Legal for Trade; the EP612N which IS Legal for Trade with no internal calibration (check the box in the option section for Legal for Trade. The prefix "N" designate Legal for Trade); the EP612CN which is the EP612 with motorized internal calibration and IS Legal for Trade (check the box in the option section for Internal Calibration. The prefix "CN" designate Internal Calibration &Legal for Trade).

One design issue you should be aware of with the Explorer and Voyager Series outfitted with internal calibration when the balance is used in the non-NTEP mode is the inability to disable the use of internal calibration. The Ohaus line is the only balance we know of that does not allow you to disable the internal calibration. Where this becomes an issue is most calibration A2LA Certification Calibration Companies will NOT calibrate a balance unless the internal calibration can be disengaged. If your balance is going to require A2LA Certification the [a href="http://balance.balances.com/scales/862/"]Sartorius CPA2202 digital scale[/a] may be a better choice.

Another design issue with the Ohaus Explorer 0.01g and 0.1 toploading balances is the windshield surrounds the platform implemented to deflect air currents from disturbing the weighing pan. Notice how the windshield wraps around the weighing pan. Sometimes this causes an obstruction in your weighing application where the item you are weighing "you think is on the platform" but actually the sample is touching the windshield, thus providing the incorrect weighing results. The [a href="http://scaleman.com/sartorius-cpa2202s-precision-digital-scale.html"]Sartorius CPA2202 precision balance[/a] and the [a href="http://scaleman.com/sartorius-gw6202-gemstone-digital-balance.html"]Sartorius GW6202[/a] doesn't have this windshield design. The [a href="http://scaleman.com/sartorius-cpa2202s-precision-digital-scale.html"]Sartorius CPA2202[/a] also offers a larger weigh pan 7.4" x 8.0" .

The EP612CN is [a href="http://www.scalenet.com/applications/glossary.html#ntep"]NTEP Approved[/a] (a.k.a. [a href="http://legal-for-trade.balances.com/and/legalfortrade.html"]Legal for Trade[/a]) and we highly recommend you click the Certificate of Conformance hyperlink below in the balance specification table to fully understand the Ohaus EP612CN limitations. The Ohaus EP612CN weighing specs are 610g weighing capacity and increments in 0.01 gram increments, but in the NTEP / Legal for Trade mode the increment is only in 0.1 gram graduations.

Ohaus Explorer Pro Balances are available in both analytical and precision configurations, in a variety of capacities. The Explorer Pro line of precision balances offers capacities ranging from [a href="#scientific"]210 x 0.001 grams to 32,000 x 0.1 grams[/a]. The [a href="#lab"]analytical balances[/a] line offers capacities of 62, 110 and 210 grams and you can review them all at the [a href="#lab"]bottom of this web page[/a].

Is the Ohaus EP612 too expensive for your budget and you can work with a little less weighing capacity? We also offer the [a href="http://scaleman.com/sartorius-ay612-precision-electronic-scale-vic612.html"]Sartorius AY-612 (610g x 0.01g)[/a] priced substantially less than the Ohaus EP612.

Other 0.01gram resolutions digital scales we offer include the [a href="http://scaleman.com/sartorius-az612-portable-scale.html"]Sartorius AZ612[/a], [a href="http://scaleman.com/precision-weighing-instrument.html"]ED822[/a], [a href="http://scaleman.com/my-weigh-i601-digital-educational-science-scale.html"]Myweigh i601[/a] and [a href="http://scaleman.com/my-weigh-im01-science-classroom-electronic-scale.html"]iM01[/a], [a href="http://scaleman.com/digital-scale-ek610i-compact-balance.html"]AND Weighing EK-610i[/a] [a href="http://scaleman.com/portable-compact-weighing-balance-ej610.html"]EJ610[/a] and [a href="http://scaleman.com/precision-scale-fx1200i.html"]FX-1200i[/a] or the [a href="http://scaleman.com/scientech-sl600-digital-laboratory-balance.html"]Scientech SL600[/a].
