Sartorius Extend ED153-N is a legal for trade, class 2 digital scale. Sartorius ED153-N complies with Grain Inspection Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA) requirements for grain test scales.
NTEP approved jewelry carat scale is affordably priced offering precise readabilities for legal for trade weighing applications. This jewelry scale from Sartorius also features an RS232 interface as well as counting and percent weighing functions. The RS232 interface allows you to connect the scale to Sartorius's optional auxiliary display so the customer can see the weight while you are standing on the opposite side of the jewelry case. You also can use the RS-232 interface to connect the scale to a Sartorius YDP20-OCE printer or computer for data acquisition.
For use as a Class II balance in general purpose weighing, direct sale of precious metals and/or gems (e.g. Jewelry Scale), GIPSA grain test scale and prescription counting.
To meet the sealing requirement of NTEP a pressure sensitive, tamper evident seal is placed over the covered hole on the rear of the balance. This restricts access to calibration and configuration parameters. A second pressure sensitive, tamper evident seal is placed over the seam where the case separates on the rear of the balance.
Legal for Trade is required in most states in the USA whenever commerce is occurring and money is being exchanged for a product by weight. You can read and learn more about what Legal for Trade means HERE
The prescription counting program enables you to determine the number of parts that each have approximately equal weight. To do this, a known number of parts (the reference sample quantity) is weighed first, and the individual piece weight (reference weight) is calculated from this result. Thus, the number of parts subsequently placed on the balance can be determined
The counting feature will only accept a minimum reference count of 10. The minimum weight to establish a sample is 30e. Since the ED153-N "e" is 0.001g the minimum sample weight is 0.03g (0.001g x 30 = 0.03g)

In the video above we offer an overview of the components of the Entris milligram balance and how to assemble. Calibration is simple using an optional external calibration mass. We demonstrate the fast response time, repeatable weighing results and features like the leveling bubble, adjustable feet, RS-232 interface and more.
In the video above we walk you through the menu configuration settings & how to enable or disable weighing applications. The factory default is "weigh" and the weight unit is set to grams only. Easily change this to "Unit" allowing you to toggle an additional 4 weighing units, "Count" for parts counting plus the ability to configure a desired reference sample quantity from 1 to 10, "Percent" for percent weighing proportional to a reference weight commonly used in formulation especially ink mixing, "Animal Weighing" for weighing live insects or small critters, or "Density" for density determination and specific gravity.
See how to configure the Sartorius Entris precision balance changing the factory default setting for the primary weigh unit of grams to pounds. We'll walk you through the steps so you can configure your Entris balance to toggle up to 4 additional different weight units
In the video above we offer a general overview of the Sartorius Entris precision lab balance. We highlight the features, functions and operation of the Sartorius Entris precision balance. See some of the available accessories for the Sartorius Entris like the optional data printer
, RS232 cable
, calibration weights
and weighing below hook.
In the video above we show you the excellent eccentric loading characteristics of the Sartorius Entris Balances. See as a calibration weight is placed in the center of 4 quadrants on the platform how the Sartorius Entris measures the weight accurately. Not all digital balances weigh accurately and if you own a laboratory balance other than Sartorius we doubt it compares to the Sartorius Entris. If you own an older Sartorius balance or someone tries to give you a deal on a used or discontinued Sartorius balance just forget it and buy the Entris.
To test eccentric loading we place a weight on the center of the weighing platform and record the weight. Now place the same item in 45-degree directions (front left, front right, rear right, and rear left) and compared to the measurement at the center. Compare the weighing results and if you have eccentric errors it just might be time to retire that balance and purchase a new Sartorius Entris.
