When the Entris64i-1S analytical balance is first installed or when it is moved to another location, it should be calibrated to ensure accurate weighing results. Gravity is not the same everywhere on earth can also affect your weighing results. Every place in the world is positioned differently to "magnetic north."
Differences in barometric pressure also creates slight gravitational differences, depending on your particular location's altitude compared to sea level. If the balance is moved to a place where the gravitational pull is greater or less, it will display a different value, as the force will vary.
Simply press of the "Cal" button and the motorized internal calibration feature performs the calibration to adjust for your location and the affects of barometric pressure and magnetic north. Small changes can mean big differences in your weight measurement results.
Depending on the use of the balance, the calibration may need to be traceable for ISO purposes or to meet other quality control requirements. In this instance, a certified weight should be used to calibrate the balance. In the United States, the National Institute of Standards and Technology is the industry group that certifies weights for calibration. A traceable calibration can be done through a balance service company that specializes in calibration certification, or it can be done by the balance owner providing they buy a certified weight to be used in the calibration process.
If your ISO requires you to perform calibration with an external traceable weight you can still do this with the Entris64i-1S. We always recommend you purchase an optional external 50 gram calibration weight Class 1 with NVLAP certificate so you can perform the external calibration.
The Sartorius Entris64i-1S laboratory balance also features a dynamic animal weighing application which allows this high precision balance to weigh small insects that may be moving on the weighing pan accurately. Parts counting is another great application allowing this high accuracy balance to easily count those extremely small and lightweight parts the typical counting scales can't even sense the weight.

Long-range competitive shooters (600+ yards) always shoot for an edge over their rivals and one way is to shoot very uniform ammo. Weighing charges, bullets and primers to 0.002gn can make shot velocities more uniform within a shot string. Sartorius Entris64-1S with the Omega 2-Speed Electric Powder Trickler can deliver the results the competitive benchrest needs to reload ammo to the kernel of powder. We use Hogdgon H4350 powder and show how the powder weighs between 0.020 -- 0.030 grains and how easy you can weigh accurate charges to the kernel. To weigh to the kernel of powder you need an analytical balance the weighs to 0.0001 grams. When the Sartorius Entris64-1S weigh mode is changed to grains the balance increments in 0.002 grain divisions. You will not be able to know every bullet is weighed to the kernel of powder with a milligram balance (0.001g) since most milligram balances increment in only 0.02 grains.
