Striking the ideal balance between inventive features and functional, uncomplicated weighing capabilities, the Ohaus Adventurer incorporates all of the applications necessary for routine weighing and measurement activities. With a color touchscreen, GLP/GMP compliance capabilities, two USB ports, ingenious draftshield, and much more, Adventurer is the most complete analytical balance in its class.
Standard Features Include:
Stability, Accuracy, and Fast Operation Ensure Optimal Weighing Results — This trio of characteristics ensures the most important aspects of routine laboratory weighing are covered: accurate results you can count on extremely quickly.
Color Touchscreen & Connectivity Options Power a Modern Weighing Experience — The wide viewing angle color touchscreen provides quick access to all of Adventurer's applications, while dual USB ports with GLP/GMP tracking capabilities assist in the monitoring and reporting of data.
Space-saving Draftshield Improves User Experience and Accessibility — The two piece, top-mounted draftshield doors open wide on both sides, providing ample room for sample placement, and also reduce the footprint of the draftshield in the rear of the balance when open.
The Adventurer AX223 has built in AutoCal enabling automatic internal calibration and does not require external calibration masses. The automatic internal calibration assists with routine maintenance by automatically calibrating the balance daily when it senses a temperature change of 1.5°C or or every 11 hours.
If preferred, the AX223 milligram scale can also be manually calibrated with the an optional 50 gram, 100g, 150g, 200g external calibration weight. Now you can choose a calibration weight that is closer to your normal weighing capacity ensuring even greater weighing accuracy. Span calibration uses two calibration points, one at zero load and the other at specified full load (span). To change the span calibration point, touch the alternate weight shown on the display. Follow the screen instructions and place the specified calibration weight on the scale when prompted to do so. When complete, the display shows the span calibration status and returns to the current weighing application. All precision measurement instruments should be calibrated when first installed or when the lab balance is moved to another location. For those people that are ISO 17025 and not able to perform internal calibration but only external calibration you can save money by purchasing the Ohaus Adventurer AX223/E.
The Adventurer has a level bubble in a small round window beside the display. To level the balance, adjust the 4 leveling feet until the bubble is centered in the circle. The Ohaus Adventurer AX even has a level assist function where the display shows examples of images and which feet to adjust depending on the location of the level bubble until the bubble is centered. Good laboratory procedures require you to level any laboratory balance each time its moved to a different location since this insures accurate weighing results.
The display features include a weighing capacity bar guide that will show the current weight as a percentage of balance capacity. A real-time clock function keeps accurate time even during power loss and the GLP data capability has the ability to record Sample name, Project names and Balance ID's to help meet traceability and compliance requirements.
Additional attributes include RS232 interface, integral weigh below hook, full housing in-use cover, removable stainless steel pan, die-cast metal bottom housing, security bracket, illuminated up-front level indicator, four adjustable feet, software lockout menus, stability indicator, software overload/underload indicators, user selectable environmental settings, audible indicator, user selectable brightness settings, auto dim, touchscreen calibration, auto tare, user selectable operating language.

Is the Adventurer AX223 is out of your budget? How about saving $100's by eliminating the internal cal and choosing the Sartorius Entris323-1S ? If you really want motorized calibration you can still save a lot of money with the A&D FZ200i designed with a removable, shatterproof breeze break perfect for challenging weighing applications where contamination is a potential concern. Plus FZ200i's small 7.6 x 10.3 inch footprint design saves you space. Finally, the AND FZ-200i offers a 5 year warranty while the Ohaus AX223 is only 2 years.
We understand purchasing a milligram balance can be confusing with all the different features and if you have any questions give us a call and one of our weighing experts can discuss your weighing application and get you the most affordable balance for your weighing needs.
Are you going to be performing density determination of samples? You'll need to purchase the OPTIONAL Ohaus Density Determination Kit. See how to install and use the Ohaus Density Determination Kit. This YouTube video shows the density kit with the Ohaus Adventurer Analytical Balances. You'll see exactly what comes with the kit.
In the YouTube Video above get a general introduction of the Ohaus Adventurer AX Laboratory Balance.
Is the Ohaus Adventurer AX223 too pricey for your budget? Then check out either the Sartorius ENTRIS 323i-1S with Internal Calibration or Sartorius ENTRIS 323-1S (external cal only). The YouTube video above we demonstrate the Entris423-1S but is is similar to the Entris323-1S. The Sartorius Entris are made in Germany while the AX223 is made in China. Please note the Entris milligram balances have a round circular draftshield but if you do want the 3 door draftshield similar to the Ohaus Adventurer AX223 we offer the Sartorius Practum213-1S, Sartorius Quintix213-1S and Sartorius Secura213-1S. The Sartorius Practum, Quintix and Secura all that a very nice color touchscreen display.
Configuring the Sartorius Entris Series is extremely easy. We like the positive click tactile keypad over balances with touchscreen displays. Touchscreens can be affected by moist fingers or gloves while tactile keypads are not affected.
Are you using a milligram balance in a wet or dusty environment? The Ohaus Adventurer is not designed for these hostile environment but there the AND Weighing FZ-iWP Series waterproof milligram balances. AND Weighing developed the world's first IP-65 rated 1 milligram resolution balance. It is dust-tight and can even be sprayed with water. Think of it as an "accident-proof" balance suitable for use in environments that can render other balances inoperable.
Select from 3 models with motorized internal calibration AND FX300iWP (320g x 1mg), AND FX200iWP (220g x 1mg), AND FX120iWP (120g x 1mg) or save some money choosing from 3 models with external calibration AND FZ120iWP (120g x 1mg), AND FZ200iWP (220g x 1mg), AND FZ300iWP (320g x 1mg).
The Ohaus Adventurer AX223 is NOT Legal For Trade. If you required a Legal for Trade NTEP Approved balance the AND Weighing FX-300iN (320g x 0.001g) is the answer. There is also the A&D Weighing FX-200iN (220g x 0.001g) and these models are hundreds less than the AX223.
If you are using a weighing device for commercial transactions (money changes hands based on a scale's reading) you will be required to have a Legal for Trade NTEP approved balance. This regulation is meant to protect the consumer so they are getting what they paid for when goods are bought and sold by weight. We recommend you contact your Weights & Measures Inspector for the city that the scale will be used in for the exact requirement. You can learn more here.
