Sartorius Entris2202-1S is the reincarnation of the Sartorius Extend ED2202S. The Sartorius Entris2202-1S digital balance features a large 7.1 inch square weighing platform, 2200 grams weighing capacity with 0.01 grams repeatability. Quick 1.5 second response time and easy to understand controls make this precision balance efficient and user friendly.
The Sartorius Entris2202-1S is external calibration. When the balance is first installed or when it is moved to another location, it should be calibrated to ensure accurate weighing results. We always recommend you purchase an optional external 2 kilogram calibration weight so you can perform the external calibration. Calibration is simply a press of the "Cal" button and then placing the external 2000g calibration weight on the weighing platform.
We do offer the Sartorius Entris2202i-1S Internal Calibration, but it is a lot more money and most people prefer external calibration because of the price.
Calibration for electronic laboratory scales are critical to ensure accurate weight measurements are taken. Changes in the location where the lab balance was last calibrated makes a difference on weighing results since gravity effect weight. Gravity is not the same everywhere on earth since every place in the world is positioned differently to "magnetic north."
Differences in barometric pressure also creates slight gravitational differences, depending on your particular location's altitude compared to sea level. If the balance is moved to a place where the gravitational pull is greater or less, it will display a different value, as the force will vary.
Calibration is important since you don't want to spend hours running a test, only to find out later that your balance was out of calibration and you'll need to scrap all the weighing data.
We all heard the word "deflation" but few have really experienced it. Well, the Sartorius ED2202S had a list price of $1,585 when it was sold in 2013 and now the Entris2202-1S in 2016 has a manufacturer suggested retail price of $1070. When you purchase from Precision Weighing Balances we offer a tremendous discount price far less than the Sartorius manufacturer suggested retail price.
The Sartorius Entris2202-1S has several weighing applications (Weighing, Density, Percentage, Counting, Unstable Conditions, & Conversion). Unstable Conditions also known as dynamic animal weighing application allows this digital scale to weigh small insects that may be moving on the weighing pan accurately. Parts counting is another great application allowing this accurate scale to easily count those extremely small and lightweight parts the typical counting scales can't even sense the weight.
Sartorius Entris precision balances all feature a built-in RS-232 interface enabling you to transfer the weighing results to a computer or connect to the Sartorius YDP20-OCE printer.
The easy to read back-lit display and simple controls which make it easy to use this lab balance. When you need to get a heavy workload of repetitive applications done fast and reliably, day and day out, the last thing you need is a precision weighing balance so complicated that it causes operating errors and wastes your valuable time as a result. Welcome to your new Entris balance comfort zone: a simple, easy-to-understand control panel, key function assignments and the easy-to-read display are ideal for efficient weighing in your lab. User-friendly operation: short, plain-English text prompts and cursor keys for navigation make it simple for you to configure the balance to meet your individual requirements. Outstanding readouts thanks to the backlit and high-contrast display (height of digits: 15 mm). The level indicator is positioned conveniently right next to the display so that checking whether the balance is level becomes "second nature" to the operator.
Sartorius products are manufactured with ISO9001 standards and have the CE mark. Sartorius has been proving their trustworthiness thanks to their top-of-the-line technology that ensures maximum accuracy. Sartorius begin building balances in 1871 and holds the Guinness Book of World Record for the most accurate balance in the world. When you have an excellent reputation and image in the technologically sophisticated field of weighing metrology there is no question Sartorius should be your only choice.
The Sartorius Entris2202-1S weigh sensor using Sartorius' patented monolithic electro magnetic force compensation. Scales using strain gauge loadcells can give you good weighing results for weighing static loads, but can drift much more due to temperature variations caused by excitation energy used with a loadcell strain gauge weigh sensor. You'll get better performance, linearity and repeatability with an electro magnetic force compensation weight sensor found in the Sartorius Entris2202-1S. If you don't understand then watch this video HERE demonstrating a magnetic force restoration balance verses strain gauge scale.
Sartorius' unique monolithic weight sensor produces steady readings using since it is cut from a single block of a special, highly rugged aluminum alloy using high-speed 21st century milling technology. The design in the area of the pan linkage is highly resistant to mechanical stress and therefore has exceptionally high mechanical stability. Also since the monolithic weigh cell is cut from a single block of aluminum there are no screw fasteners needed between functional parts. This keeps the system less sensitive to fluctuations in temperature, and with fewer parts there is less chance of failure. You achieve incredibly fast response time, unfailing reliability and near-zero susceptibility to interference. The reasons for these considerable advantages are two fold: the number of individual parts has been reduced by more than 70% and the mechanical construction has been designed to last for years of trouble-free operations.
The Sartorius Entris Series consists 3 Analytical models (4 decimal places), 4 Milligram Balances (3 decimal places), 5 Precision Balances (2 decimal places) & 3 Precision Scales (1 decimal place) and you can see the Complete Entris Series here.
The Sartorius Entris2202-1S is the reincarnation of the Sartorius Extend ED2202S. The Sartorius Extend ED line was phased-out and replaced with the Sartorius Practum2102-1S, Quintix 2102-1S or Secura 2102-1S. The Secura, Quintix and Practum balances introduced in 2013 featured an entirely new cutting edge design offering with a touch screen display with graphical user interface. These new touch screen balances are very nice and offer advanced weighing applications, but they are also expensive and for some people they prefer tactile keypad buttons over a touchscreen.
While Sartorius focused on high end balances A&D Weighing and Ohaus brought to market the following extremely affordable precision balances. AND introduced the FX-2000i, FX-2000iN, FZ-2000i , FZ-2000iWP, and AND FX-2000iWP. Ohaus offers the Pioneer PA2202 Electronic Scale. It now seems like Sartorius noticed a void in the entry level lab precision scale sector and in February 2014 Sartorius brought to the marketplace the Entris. The Sartorius Entris2202-1S is the same platform, housing, weigh sensor and embedded software as the Sartorius Extend. The Sartorius Entris features a new display overlay, new microprocessor and now is RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) compliant. The overall operation of the Extend and Entris are the same.
We understand purchasing an precision balance is a major capital expense and if you have any questions give us a call and one of our weighing experts can discuss your weighing application and get you the most affordable balance for your weighing needs.

In the video above we walk you through the menu configuration settings & how to enable or disable weighing applications. The factory default is "weigh" and the weight unit is set to grams only. Easily change this to "Unit" allowing you to toggle an additional 4 weighing units, "Count" for parts counting plus the ability to configure a desired reference sample quantity from 1 to 10, "Percent" for percent weighing proportional to a reference weight commonly used in formulation especially ink mixing, "Animal Weighing" for weighing live insects or small critters, or "Density" for density determination and specific gravity.
See how to configure the Sartorius Entris precision balance changing the factory default setting for the primary weigh unit of grams to pounds. We'll walk you through the steps so you can configure your Entris balance to toggle up to 4 additional different weight units
In the video above we offer a general overview of the Sartorius Entris precision lab balance. We highlight the features, functions and operation of the Sartorius Entris precision balance. See some of the available accessories for the Sartorius Entris like the optional data printer, RS232 cable, calibration weights and weighing below hook.
In the video below we show you the excellent eccentric loading characteristics of the Sartorius Entris Balances. See as a calibration weight is placed in the center of 4 quadrants on the platform how the Sartorius Entris measures the weight accurately. Not all digital balances weigh accurately and if you own a laboratory balance other than Sartorius we doubt it compares to the Sartorius Entris. If you own an older Sartorius balance or someone tries to give you a deal on a used or discontinued Sartorius balance just forget it and buy the Entris.
To test eccentric loading we place a weight on the center of the weighing platform and record the weight. Now place the same item in 45-degree directions (front left, front right, rear right, and rear left) and compared to the measurement at the center. Compare the weighing results and if you have eccentric errors it just might be time to retire that balance and purchase a new Sartorius Entris.
