The replacement model is the Sartorius ENTRIS 5201-1S or Sartorius Practum5101-1S digital scale. The information on this web page is for reference only to help anyone researching the balance specifications or needing the user manual that you can download above.
We don't recommend you buy any left over or used TE4101S if you can even find them since the TE4101S was not RoHS Compliant and the microprocessor used in the TE Series is no longer in production so there is a lack of parts and accessories for the TE4101S. Plus the new Sartorius Practum5101-1S has a touch screen display for much easier configuration and operation, USB connection and ability to transfer weigh data directly to Excel with no additional software or special configuration settings needed and many other features.
If you want motorized internal calibration there is also the Sartorius Quintix5101-1S laboratory scale.
TE4101 Battery Powered Sartorius Scale sets new accents in the class of compact and affordable laboratory balances. Easy to use and provides dependable results in the lab or in the field. Rugged construction with a stainless steel pan, and sturdy keypad ensure the reliability of weighing results, no matter how frequently the balances are used. The sealed over-lay assures years of usage "Meeting Your Needs in Every Weigh. "

In the YouTube video above we review the Sartorius Practum 5100-1S lab scale.
When you purchase the Sartorius Practum precision scales with 1 gram, 0.1 gram or 0.01 gram readability you have a large weighing platform measuring 180 mm or 7.0 inches in diameter.
Sartorius Practum balances come with the Universal DC Power Adapter (Sartorius part # 6971790 includes 6 different power plug adapters for use in the USA, Europe, UK, Australia, India, and South Africa), Quick Start Guide, Installation & Operating Instruction Manual & a single form fitted clear transparent plastic in-use cover.
Setting up this digital scale is easy - Install the shield disk and turn this counterclockwise until it is securely in place. Next place the pan support, weighing pan and level the balance using the two leveling feet.
There is a port for a below-balance weighing located on the bottom of the balance. To use the underhook - lift cover plate from the bottom of the balance and attach a wire to the sample and hang it on the notched hook.
Plugging the AC adapter and turn on the balance you'll see the power-up display, then you see the "leveling" screen to remind you to the scale. The balance must be level to ensure precise weighing results. Leveling the balance compensates for slant or unevenness at the place of installation by twisting the front leveling feet of the balance.
Laboratories in the science classroom or quality control department looking for a nice electronic scale the Sartorius Practum Series could be your perfect choice.
In the YouTube video above we perform internal calibration and also external calibration. For the demonstration we are using the Sartorius Quintix1102-1S and the procedure is the same for all the Sartorius Quintix Series. Calibrating the Sartorius Quintix Balance is simple and easy and this laboratory balance displays the calibration deviation and the adjusted deviation calibration to meet numerous quality assurance requires. External calibration does require the purchase of the external calibration weight specific to each Quintix model at an additional cost.
Check out either the Sartorius ENTRIS 5201-1SUS (external cal only) or Sartorius ENTRIS 5201i-1SUS (internal motorized calibration). The Sartorius Entris Balances are made in Germany.
In the video above we show you how the Sartorius Entris laboratory balances offers superior eccentric loading characteristics. Watch as a calibration weight is placed in the center and 4 quadrants on the platform and how the Sartorius Entris6202-1S measures the weight accurately. Not all digital balances weigh accurately and if you own a laboratory balance other than Sartorius we doubt it compares to the Sartorius Entris.
Configuring the Sartorius Entris Series is extremely easy. We like the positive click tactile keypad over balances with touchscreen displays. Touchscreens can be affected by moist fingers or gloves while tactile keypads are not affected.
The Sartorius TE4101S is NOT Legal For Trade. If you required a Legal for Trade NTEP Approved balance the Mettler Toledo JS8001G/A (8200g x 0.1g) is the answer. The Mettler JS Series balance operates on either AC Adapter or standard 8 AA alkaline batteries for 8-15 hours.
The Mettler JS8001G/A balance is NTEP Approved 8200d Class II Scale 0.1 grams increments and a maximum capacity of 8200 grams. The "d"(value of scale division) is 0.1 grams and the "e" (value of verification scale division) is 1 gram. This electronic scale meets the requirements as a Class II weighing device defined in Handbook 44. All this information can be verified by downloading the CofC # 11-113 so you can printout this certificate to check with your Weights & Measurements Inspector if they will allow you to use the Mettler-Toledo JS8001G/A for your particular weighing application.
If you are using a weighing device for commercial transactions (money changes hands based on a scale's reading) you will be required to have a Legal for Trade NTEP approved balance. This regulation is meant to protect the consumer so they are getting what they paid for when goods are bought and sold by weight. We recommend you contact your Weights & Measures Inspector for the city that the scale will be used in for the exact requirement. You can learn more here.
